NEW! BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT IN EARLY YEARS - FRAMEWORK FOR INTERVENTION
Behaviour Management in Early Years is a motivating, engaging and focused way of involving early years practitioners in discussing, reflecting upon and implementing effective and consistent behaviour management within their own settings using the Framework for Intervention.
The training course features real world material from a representative selection of early years settings reflecting real issues and concerns and demonstrates best practice approaches to dealing with them.
Dramatised scenarios present some typical ‘difficult situations’ and allow participants to explore different ways of resolving them.
The Training Course is divided into modules to organise the learning and offer the maximum flexibility of delivery and can be facilitated in-house with the aid of the supportive and easy-to-use Course Book and Facilitator’s Guide which is provided on CD-ROM. All Ambit Training Courses are accredited for undergraduate and post graduate qualifications by Edge Hill University.

PUPIL PEER COACHING AVAILABLE NOW
COACHING DVD TO HELP SCHOOLS CREATE “THE COLLEGIATE FEEL”
In today’s schools, pupils are increasingly encouraged to reflect on their own learning. Graham Maslen, Head Teacher of North Halifax Grammar School, is spearheading a collaborative of six Calderdale schools in co – producing with Ambit a DVD - based training package on pupil coaching.
The course shows how to initiate and manage a pupil coaching system for maximum effect and with minimum inconvenience. This course is available now.
Says Graham Maslen, “I’m a firm believer that open, continuing and unselfconscious discussion about learning between teachers and pupils, teachers and teachers and pupils and pupils has huge benefits for the quality of pupils’ learning, their actual attainments and the ethos of the school as a whole. This is the basis of “collegiality” and I’m convinced it’s the way schools need to go and will go to engage young people in the future and achieve higher and higher standards.”
The project is managed by Educational Consultant David Farrant, formerly of Calderdale Council’s Education Department. “Having previously worked with Ambit on our highly successful staff coaching DVD Learning from Each Other, we felt that they were the ideal company to make this new programme, bringing with them all the right experience, expertise and sensitivities.”

MANAGING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR FOR ALL GLASGOW SCHOOLS
Following an extensive evaluation, Glasgow City has acquired a full licence to use Ambit's Managing Challenging Behaviour including a copy for each of its primary and secondary schools.
The DVD - based professional development package is being used to support Glasgow's September INSET day on behaviour management.
Says Margaret Orr, Head of Service [SEN] of Glasgow City's Education Services. "We chose Managing Challenging Behaviour because we wanted to provide our schools with another comprehensive and high quality resource that they could use themselves to reflect upon and further develop existing practice.
The resource can be used on an ongoing basis for refresher and individual training and for induction of new staff. The course will engage staff at all levels and encourage them to bring in fresh initiatives and try new approaches. The materials complement an already extensive range of CPD opportunities within the authority". |

“Probably the most cost effective
system of staff development that I have come across”.
Andy Peet, Deputy Head Teacher, De La Salle High School,
St Helens.
“Facilitating this training would
not be difficult for most CPD co-ordinators. Most
of the preparation is done for you......the weekly
sessions allowed time to reflect, try out new ideas
in the classroom”
Val Dagley – former deputy head teacher, Cromer
High School, Norfolk.
“With pressures being placed on
schools because of the shortage of supply cover, training
that means schools don’t need to send staff
away on courses will be come increasingly valuable.”
Peter Earley, Reader in Education at the Institute
of Education and joint editor of Professional Development
Today.
