Lunchtimes
give children the ideal opportunity to let off steam
and learn the vital skills of social interaction.
However, unless lunchtimes are properly managed,
children can be far less receptive to the demands
of good behaviour and effective learning during
the afternoons. Managing the Lunch Hour is a comprehensive
multimedia course, designed to assist
schools in devising and implementing procedures
and strategies to place structure around the lunch
break, whilst ensuring children gain the full benefits
of constructive activity.
The DVD-based course
emphasises the need for a coherent and consistent
whole school approach, stressing the importance
of the roles played by the team. The course contains
specific guidance for lunchtime supervisors in behaviour
management and other important issues, such as health
and safety. It also includes examples of difficult
situations with which they can interact and decide
upon the best course of action.
The DVD is menu driven, divided
into short modules and is simple to facilitate.
It contains a variety of materials intended to stimulate
reflection and discussion including dramatised scenarios
and situations to which participants are asked to
respond.
The video is accompanied by a CD
ROM, which contains an Individual Learning
Guide, including questions, discussion
points and supplementary information. There are
also comprehensive Facilitation Notes.
"This is a super
product that we will be able to make effective use
of in our school"
